This outdoor-party-menu page is dedicated to food; but if you've not yet found the music you need, the outdoor party page may be your answer.
At outdoor events during the warmer months, cold drinks and a variety of food are standard - and lots of them. The most common food for these occasions is hamburgers, hot dogs, ribs, seafood; your outdoor-party-menu may simply include those. The smells that lighting up a grill generates are a great prelude to the actual meal and you can't beat that.
The recipe shown below is a tried & true favorite of ours and is ideal for the summer parties. Pull out the grill and get ready to delight yourself, and your guests.
(Use only the freshest shrimp; avoid frozen.)6-1/2 pounds medium-sized shrimp - 1/2 cup melted butter or margarine - 1/4 cup Worchestershire sauce - 1/4 cup lemon juice - 1 Tblsp coarse ground black pepper - 1 to 2 cloves garlic, minced - 4 Tblsp Tony Chachere's creole seasoning - 2 Tblsp hot sauce Peel & de-vein the shrimp, if desired. Mix remaining ingredients in large bowl. Combine with shrimp, tossing thoroughly to make sure shrimp is coated well. For maximum spiciness, let this marinate for several hours. Light the grill. Whether using charcoal or gas, be sure not to have the heat too high; shrimp cooks very fast and it is important not to overcook. Arrange shrimp on grill skillet or basket and cook for about 5 minutes on each side.
One 1-1/2 pound flank steak 5 green onions, chopped 3/4 cups vegetable oil 1/2 cup soy sauce 1-1/2 tsp ginger 1-1/2 tsp garlic powder 3 Tblsp honey 2 Tblsp apple cider vinegar
Please steak in a large shallow dish. Combine remaining ingredients, mixing well. Pour over steak, cover and marinate in refrigerator 8 hours, turning occasionally. Drain steak, reserving marinade. Grill over hot coals 5 to 10 minutes on each side, or until desired degree of doneness, basting with marinade. To serve, slice steak across grain into thin slices. Makes 6 servings.
10-12 ears fresh corn on the cob olive oil Cavenders Greek seasoning
Shuck and clean all the silks off the corn. Brush each with olive oil and sprinkle lightly with Cavenders seasoning. Wrap each in individual aluminum foil and place on grill that has been pre-heated on medium heat. Grill for 30 minutes, turning occasionally.

2-1/2 lbs. New potatoes, unpeeled 4 Tblsp melted butter Salt & pepper
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. Clean & cut potatoes into quarters. Place in large bowl, drizzle with butter, salt & pepper to taste, and toss to coat thoroughly. Transfer to oven-proof dish and bake for 45 minutes. Serves 6-8
For the french bread part of this outdoor-party-menu, simple slice and butter the bread, wrap in aluminum foil and heat in the oven long enough to melt the butter. If you prefer, drop it on one side of the grill for a few moments, while cooking the shrimp. No warm weather, summer affair would be the same without the following recipe. This outdoor-party-menu page gives you the best, most authentic old time ingredients. There are a lot of variations on homemade ice cream, but this basic, very simple one has been around for a very long time and never fails to please. No cooking required - and we think that is a plus. The only problem - we can never seem to get enough. It's that good!
(This recipe calls for an ice cream maker, either electric or hand-cranked. These are easy to find at stores such as WalMart. In case you have never used one, we give basic directions for use.)BASIC VANILLA RECIPE 6 eggs 2 cups sugar one 12-oz can Carnation evaporated milk 1/2 gallon whole milk toppings of choice such as fruit, chocolate syrup, chopped nuts rock salt 2 bags crushed ice
With electric mixer, thoroughly mix first three ingredients in a large bowl. Pour this mixture into canister of ice cream maker, scraping bowl with spatula. Fill canister to fill line with whole milk. (If your ice cream maker is larger capacity, you may need to increase first three ingredients accordingly.) Insert the paddle into the canister and make sure the lid is closed securely. Place the lid/motor on top of ice cream maker per manufacturer's instructions, locking canister securely in place. Fill ice cream maker bucket 1/3 full of crushed ice and sprinkle one layer of rock salt evenly over that ice. Then repeat this process two more times and plug ice cream maker in. (Avoid large chunks of ice as this may cause motor to stall if canister is not allowed to turn freely.) Read instructions as to how to handle water that will escape through the side hole as ice melts. Ice cream maker will shut off when ice cream is thick enough - approximately 30 - 40 minutes. Cover with heavy towel or cloth and let set for approx. 15 minutes. When ready to serve, be sure to wipe excess salt off the lid when opened. For hand-cranked machines, turn until it is impossible to crank any further. These machines usually produce harder ice cream.
Although we throw summer outdoor parties more frequently, there is a lot to be said for autumn and early winter months where hot drinks and fire pits need to be part of your outdoor-party-menu, and they create the atmosphere, along with the right music, of course.
For music to fit those cooler weather events, you'll probably want to create a "cooler" atmosphere - you'll find the perfect jazz on this page.
Good luck with your outdoor-party-menu. Check back later for updates.
